If LeBron James quit basketball and entered the 2008 NFL Draft, would he be the No. 1 overall pick?

Why he would: James is 6-foot-8 24o lbs with a 40+ inch vertical and 4.3 40-speed (I'm guessing). He would make Champ Bailey and Asante Samuel look absolutely stupid on the gridiron. If LBJ were to dedicate himself to football, his physical tools would allow him to become the best wide receiver of all-time.

Why he wouldn't: King James hasn't played football since high school. Granted, he was first-team all-state, but NFL football is not something most people can just pick up.

The Decision: James would go No. 1 without a doubt. If Miami was willing to draft Ted Ginn in the top ten last year, it'll have no problem snatching up LBJ in '08.

If Duke Offered Dick Vitale An Assistant Coaching Position, Would He Leave ESPN And Take It?

Why he would: I can assure you this is No. 1 on Vitale’s “bucket list.” As Coach K’s top assistant and eventual successor, Vitale’s pre-game pep talks would sound something like this: “Oh, Mr. Singler, stay in school, baby. Look at your teammate, Mr. Nelson, a four-year player, a great member of the community. Come back for graduate school Mr. Nelson, become a teacher’s assistant. Don’t leave your team, don’t leave these fans, and don’t leave the ACC baby!”

Why he wouldn't: Money. Duke can't offer Vitale the fat contract that ESPN gives him. Perhaps more importantly, Vitale would no longer be able to root for the entire ACC. While he'd have no problem coaching his favorite ACC team, I'm not sure he would be willing to dismiss his somewhat lesser passions for North Carolina, Wake Forest, and North Carolina State.

The Decision: Take the job.
